    Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) is a community of high-performing public schools that utilizes a comprehensive approach to prepare students from preschool through high school for success in college and in life. We integrate academic rigor, community, family, and wellness to empower students to thrive in a culturally connected and changing world. Founded in 2000, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy students represent the neighborhood of MacArthur Park west of downtown Los Angeles, a community that is one of the most under-resourced and densely populated neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Currently, CNCA has eight campuses that serve over 3,500 students from pre-K through 12th grade.

Teachers must be visionaries, eager to be in the forefront of educational practices and must embrace the challenge of demonstrating that public education in a low-income, primarily immigrant, multilingual area can succeed.     Description: The Principal will serve as the educational leader, responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a high quality, comprehensive educational program.   He/She is expected to embody, promote and lead CNCA’s Schools mission, vision and policies.  The Principal will work  collaboratively to direct and nurture all members of the school staff and to communicate effectively with parents  in order to achieve academic excellence.  Inherent to the position are the responsibilities for scheduling, curriculum development, extracurricular activities, personnel management, emergency procedures, and facility operations    




    • Facilitate the development of the school wide vision, annual goals and school growth plans.

    • Recruit, evaluate and manage staff including certificated teaching staff, classified staff, and school leaders.

    • Develop and support school-wide curriculum and assessment mapping to ensure a guaranteed and viable curriculum.

    • Support a cycle of continuous academic improvement by providing strong instructional leadership and regularly analyzing data to meet school-wide performance goals.

    • Plan and facilitate research-proven professional development activities that promote a culture of on-going growth and collaboration.

    • Develop and implement plan to address achievement gaps for English language learners, special education students and historically underserved students.

    • Oversee student discipline and incentive and intervention programs.

    • Implement and oversee the school’s academic intervention program.

    • Oversee school operations, including school budget, personnel, facilities and technology.


    • Administrative Credential preferred, California Teaching Credential required.
    • Five years teaching experience.
    • Proven leadership with low-income and/or students of color.
    • Proven track record in collaboration, teamwork and delegation.
    • Willingness to continue established educational programs and investigate new research-based successful practices.


    Desirable Qualifications:

    • At least three years of proven experience in educational and instructional leadership.
    • At least three years of teaching experience.
    • Educational vision for and experience with low-income and/or minority children.
    • Strong expertise working with English Language Learners.
    • Demonstrated ability in helping teachers become skilled practitioners.
    • Proven track record in collaboration, teamwork and achievement results.
    • Ability to motivate and organize parent involvement and foster strong school morale.
    • Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred but not required
