     Preschool Teacher Assistant(Part-Time)


    Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) is a community of high-performing public schools that utilizes a comprehensive approach to prepare students from preschool through high school for success in college and in life. We integrate academic rigor, community, family, and wellness to empower students to thrive in a culturally connected and changing world. Founded in 2000, Camino Nuevo Charter Academy students represent the neighborhood of MacArthur Park west of downtown Los Angeles, a community that is one of the most under-resourced and densely populated neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Currently, CNCA has eight campuses that serve over 3,500 students from pre-K through 12th grade.  The Early Childhood Center is looking for dynamic and hard-working individuals to join our team.


    Teacher Assistant will perform a full range of duties including, but not limited to:

    • Carry out tasks assigned by the Lead Teacher
    • Assume responsibility for small learning groups of children by preparing activities and turning in ahead of time to lead teacher. These responsibilities entail:
      1. Small group time
      2. Circle time
      3. Story time
      4. and any other activities that are planned by Lead Teacher
    • Assist and work together with Lead Teacher and Associate Teacher in the maintenance for a safe and healthy environment
    • Meet all applicable licensing regulations
    • Assist in the implementation of student IEP and behavior goals through lesson planning and observations.
    • Maintain confidentiality
    • Assist in maintenance of student records of attendance and achievement:
    1. Assist in maintaining anecdotal records and provide input on student progress
    2. Assist in maintaining a yearly portfolio for each child in classroom
    • Participate in regularly scheduled meetings such as Professional Development with Preschool staff


    Applicants who possess the following skills will make the strongest candidates:

    • REQUIREMENT: ECE Units or Child Development Associate Teacher Permit
    • Bilingual (oral & written) Spanish/English required
    • Experience working with young children required
    • Demonstrated successful experience working with students
    • Demonstrated ability to positively and professionally work with staff and parents alike


    Work Basis: Mon- Thu: 12:15-4:15 ((Part time-approx 16hrs/week-10 month school year)


    Salary:            Based on applicable experience; range of $13-$15 per hour
